Donate fruit or veggies from your garden…

If you live in the Long Beach area and you have produce to donate:

FOR HELP WITH HARVESTING:

  • Email socalharvest@earthlink.net or call (323) 678-6036.
  • If emailing, include your name, cell and/or home phone number, street address, type of fruit, any available tools (ladders, long handled fruit baskets, extension pruners, type of fruit and number of trees to be harvested and a picture of your tree(s) with an item in the picture for scale (such as a 5 foot ladder).
  • SoCal Harvest will return your email or phone call and arrange for a site visit to see the tree(s) and arrange a date for volunteers to pick fruit and vegetables, generally on Saturday; if the tree is smaller, we sometimes harvest on weekday mornings.

  • HERE IS THE PART THAT APPLIES TO SOCAL HARVEST PICKING FRUIT ON YOUR PROPERTY:
    (d) COLLECTION OR GLEANING OF DONATIONS.—A person who allows the collection or gleaning of donations on property owned or occupied by the person by gleaners, or paid or unpaid representatives of a nonprofit organization, for ultimate distribution to needy individuals shall not be subject to civil or criminal liability that arises due to the injury of death of the gleaner or representative, except that this paragraph shall not apply to an injury or death that results from an act or omission of the person constituting gross negligence or intentional misconduct.
